Site-specific installation comprising double-sided projection screens and activated overhead projectors. Variable dimensions.

Untitled occupies an entire classroom with projection screens arranged to form a path through the space. White on one side and black on the other, they create suspended squares that echo the room’s architecture while concealing the view instead of displaying images.

Overhead projectors remain switched on, but their adjustable heads are turned back towards their own lamps. Producing heat, airflow and rainbow-like halos on the floor, they become active yet self-contained presences. Through the accumulation and displacement of its pedagogical equipment, the classroom’s function is progressively destabilised, until the room itself becomes an abstract spatial composition.

Research relevance

Untitled examines how accumulation can destabilise a structure through the multiplication of its own functional elements. Screens and projectors are not removed from the classroom, but intensified until they obstruct circulation, conceal the space and prevent the room from operating as intended. Its pedagogical function is therefore not abolished from outside, but made precarious by the excess and displacement of the very instruments meant to sustain it.

The installation reverses the operations through which a classroom organises visibility and transmits knowledge. Screens become obstacles, while projectors consume energy without addressing an image beyond themselves. By allowing active instruments to persist after their purpose has closed in on itself, the work transposes institutional fragility into spatial and perceptual conditions.
