Displacing Territories, 2022
Inspired by the migratory cycles of birds, I conducted a series of interviews with artists who had experienced migration in Berlin, focusing on sleep, dreams, and waiting. These conversations led to an immersive installation intitled Sleep, Ultimate Refuge combining sound, voices, and dreamscapes generated by artificial intelligence, printed as cyanotypes intitles Exploring Nonexisting Places.
Alongside these pieces, the corpus also includes a musical sculpture, Sounds of Migration, and a large-scale painting, Bird View, — all conceived in resonance with the same themes, extending the reflections on movement, rest, and transformation. The relation to migratory birds allows me to explore the deep tension between the ideal and the real — between the impulse to move freely and the constraints that define human displacement.
For me, the dream represents a temporary refuge, a fragile but vital pause where those who are uprooted can reconnect past, present, and future, and sustain an invisible bond with loved ones elsewhere.
